The Latest from Subic Bay Children's Home
December 2024
Dear Friends and Supporters,
As we enter this season of Thanksgiving, we reflect on the many blessings we've received throughout the year. In a year that has been filled with both challenges and triumphs, we are reminded of the importance of family, love, and resilience. Thanks to your continued support and obedience to God, our children's home has been able to provide a safe, nurturing environment for children in need, and we are deeply grateful for the generosity and kindness you’ve shown.
We celebrated Thanksgiving with a special fellowship gathering at the children's home. The children, staff, and volunteers came together to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal after our three-day youth camp. It was a great time to pause and reflect on the many blessings we’ve experienced this week alone and to recognize how far we’ve come as a family.
This Thanksgiving we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you who has supported our mission—whether through donations, volunteering, or offering words of encouragement. Your generosity makes it possible for us to continue providing services and resources that empower children to build bright futures.
Mark
I know that thanksgiving is something we always look forward to. It is a time to reflect on how Jesus has been merciful and gracious for the past year but it also is about the turkey and all the yummy sides! As for Mark, it was his first time celebrating Thanksgiving ever. It was so amusing seeing a little 7-year-old gobble away that much food. He loves to play and run around our compound; so carefree. He is such a sweet and happy boy but still shows signs of trauma when being disciplined. He was rescued from a nearby institution wherein he was being sexually and physically abused. It is a joy to be able to show him a little bit of Jesus through the children’s home’s love for him when he has gone through most of what we have at such a young age. Please pray that God will use us as an instrument of his salvation.
This year we’ve seen incredible growth in our children, both emotionally and spiritually. Many of our children have overcome personal struggles, building resilience and hope for the future. We’ve been blessed with dedicated staff and volunteers who have worked tirelessly to ensure that each child receives the care and support they need. That’s why every year we allow supporters and friends to be part of helping us show our appreciation to them by giving them a Christmas bonus. We have 25 staff and 10 workers that help us operate daily to ensure a safe environment for our children. We would like also like to thank those who gave for the children’s Christmas gift this year. We had so much fun shopping for the children’s gift with the help of my siblings and some of our houseparent's.
As we head into this Christmas season we are filled with hope for the future because of our Lord Jesus Christ. Our children have come so far, and we know that with your continued support, they will continue to thrive. Together, we are helping create a world where every child is loved, valued, and given the opportunity to succeed through Jesus Christ.
Thank you for being a part of our family, and for showing our children what it means to give and to be grateful. We wish you and your loved ones a joyful, peaceful, and meaningful week.
With heartfelt thanks,
