Valbuena Family's Latest News

February 2026

Dear Praying Partners and Friends,

They say, “When it rains, it pours,” and truly this season has felt that way for our family.
Alongside the challenges we are currently facing at the Subic Bay Children’s Home, we have received unexpected news regarding Odek’s health. He has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and has undergone a PET scan. We are grateful to share that the results show the cancer is contained and has not spread, for which we give thanks to God. Odek is scheduled to undergo surgery on February 13th. We humbly ask for your continued prayers—for God’s healing hand to be upon him, for wisdom and guidance for the medical team, and for a smooth and complete recovery.

Please also pray that all goes well so that he will be strong enough to travel and fly out on February 24th, as planned. We trust in God’s timing and His perfect plan as we walk through this season together. This possibility weighs heavily on our hearts, particularly for our two youngest children, who are eagerly looking forward to returning to the mission field. The thought of postponing that return is difficult for all of us.

Yet, even in the midst of these trials, we are thankful to the Lord that the work of the ministry continues to move forward.

Our son Timothy Valbuena, son in law Ruel Villamiel and outreach missionary pastor, John Mark Yutuk, as well as mission pastors Jolan and Dominic Manglicmot, have been doing a tremendous job overseeing the jail ministry, police outreach, campus ministry, visitation, feeding programs, and other evangelistic efforts.
In our absence, Joland Manglicmot has faithfully served as Officer-in-Charge of the Children’s Home, ensuring stability and care. We have also been encouraged by the support of former government officials who believe in our innocence and are now helping us, including Former Chief Justice of the SUPREME COURT Mary Lourdes Sereno.

We rejoice in what God is doing through the AMAGOH Sports Ministry. Our son Timothy is taking the ministry to new heights, coaching in two schools and using sports to proclaim the Gospel. Recently, the team held an outreach at the district jail, where the Gospel was preached at halftime, and several Muslim inmates responded to Christ. Timothy’s AMAGOH ministry has also brought first-time visitors to church every Sunday. We give God all the glory for lives being transformed and ask for your prayers that these athletes and those reached through outreach will come to know Jesus personally and remain open to His love.

Our son-in-law Ruel, still studying at our Bible Institute, is already leading the pioneering work of San Pedro Saug Baptist Mission in Pampanga. It’s a joy to see our children serving as third-generation missionaries, wholeheartedly devoted to the Lord. We humbly ask you to pray for them as they seek to raise their own support. At present, they have not yet reached even 30% of their needed support. Please pray that God will provide faithful partners to stand with them.

Above all, please continue to pray for us as we seek to serve our Savior to the best of our ability during this season. We are deeply thankful for your prayers, love, and faithful partnership in the ministry.

With grateful hearts,
