July 2024 - After Hurricane Beryl

Dear Co-Laborers in Christ.

“...the LORD hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm,
and the clouds are the dust of his feet.
The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble;
and he knoweth them that trust in him.”
Nahum 1:3b &7

Hurricane Beryl hit us on July 1st. It was very destructive to the North and East of Grenada. Carriacou and Petite Martinique were devastated. We have minimal damage to the church, but praise the Lord, we are all safe!

It was amazing to witness the power of the hurricane. We could see and hear the trees cracking and falling all around us. The front two ends of the church were damaged. We could not get up to the church for all the branches and trees that fell on the roof and blocked the way. Our electric wires were ripped from the wall and hung low enough to make us duck as we tried to get out of our yard and up to the church. A roof from a house higher up in Loretto sailed over houses, the church, and landed just outside our back gate. When it hit, everything shook and it sounded like it tore off our veranda roof, but we were spared.

Our house roof had some leaks that will need to be tarred. A comer of the pre-school classroom flooded with mud and water. It has been temporarily fixed but we will need to replace several large pieces of tin on the church roof that have holes in them.

We are praising the Lord - we are safe and temporary repairs have been made. It took three men two days to clear all the trees and debris from the playground and church. Our electricity has been restored, we have clean water again, and life is getting back to normal.

Thank-you for all your prayers! Truly God “is good, a strong hold in
the day of trouble.”
