The Mortenson Family – May 2024
Dear Family and Friends,
Thank you for your faithful prayers. April was a challenging month because of several factors, but we recognize the Lord’s sustaining grace through it. One of the largest challenges, that we were not expecting, is that Cori had a bad flair up of her asthma. This time of year is the hot, dry season (dry because of not much rain, but we still always have the humidity), and Cori sometimes struggles because of that. But this year her asthma flair up was especially difficult. In spite of the difficulties, God is always good and we feel so blessed to serve Him here.
The first week of the month of April we hosted the second surgical team of the year and we were thrilled to partner with them to help 16 patients with their medical needs. We are also thrilled to report that 3 of the patients made professions of faith in Jesus as a result of the soul wining opportunity that Medical Missions Outreach provides. What a thrill to not only meet a physical need, but also introduce them to the Great Physician, our Lord Jesus.
God continues to bless the church here and the month of April was also our Missions Emphasis Month. Each service this month was missions oriented and we heard some great reports from ministries that our faith promise giving supports. As a church family, we support 18 missionaries and are excited for the privilege to partner with them to extend the good news to the ends of the earth. Our prayer is that through God’s provision we can continue to be a part of His plan to reach the world.
In family news, Mykenzie just finished her Junior year of high school and is starting to think about her future. Tomorrow I will fly her to KY to be with my parents, where she will work a summer job. Then we will pick her back up when we are stateside for a short furlough in August. It is crazy how fast this transition is coming, but we are very proud of her. Please pray for her to continue to mature and for the Lord’s direction about next steps after high school. Thank you again for your prayers.
