June 2024
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Greetings from Mexico! In May we had our annual ladies retreat. The theme this year was "Refresca mi Alma" which translated is "Refresh my Soul." Laurie taught three classes focusing on examples of discouraged people in the Bible and how God met with them personally and they were encouraged to continue on for the Lord. The ladies really enjoy this time together of fellowship, games, food, and Bible teaching.
The end of May we finished our Bible Institute school year. Five students completed their second year, and one completed his first year. We have five new students planning to enroll in the Bible Institute this fall. We praise the Lord for His blessing on this ministry and for students who are committed to studying and preparing to serve God with their lives.
The teen girls had their retreat in June. The theme was on the mind...the discipline of bringing our thoughts into captivity Laurie asked a couple of the teen girls to prepare a class to share with the others and our daughter Rachel was one of those who taught a class. She is 16 and it was a blessing to watch her study and prepare for this. We're so thankful that God has entrusted us with our kids and enjoy watching them learn and grow spiritually. They are both a huge help in the ministry here. Please continue to pray for both Rachel and Joel that they wouid continue to have tender hearts toward God and a desire to serve Him with their lives.
We are continuing to take the Bible institute young men to a Rehabilitation Center nearby every Tuesday evening to preach. They take turns preaching and as there are always new people coming through the Rehabilitation Center, we praise the Lord for allowing us to lead them to Christ. Recently, after one of our guys preached, an older man accepted Christ as his Savior. That very night he passed away We praise God that he was reached in time and that he is in heaven today! What a reminder to all of us that we need to be faithful to continue preaching the Gospel!
A man named Felix lives close to our church in Miravalle and has been battling cancer. Over the past year our church people have visited him regularly, each time sharing the Gospel with him. He and his family have been strong Catholics his entire life and though he enjoyed the visits he rejected salvation. Last month, we went again to share the Gospel and this time was different. He was open to hearing the Gospel and had questions about it. After about an hour ne said he wanted to receive Christ as his Savior! We are continuing to visit him, disciple him, and our young men have taken their guitars to his house to sing for him several times. He is a different man! There is a peace on his face as we read the Bible to him and sing hymns. The doctors haven't given him any hope of victory over this cancer, but we praise God for the sure hope of heaven.
On Saturday, June IS, we had a special dinner at the church for all of the men. I invited a missionary friend who is starting a church in Guadalajara, Bro. Michael Meyer, to preach to us. Our ladies prepared a delicious meal. It was a great time of fellowship, food, and especially the preaching of God's Word
In July we have a group of 20 coming from Florida to run an eyeglasses campaign. This is their second time to come, and I know God is going to bless their time here. We will take them to different villages where we'll set up a clinic and invite people to come for free eye tests and glasses. As they wait for their glasses, a group of people from our church will be there witnessing to each person. Please pray that God will work during the time they are here and that many will receive Christ as their Savior.
August 1-4 we are planning our missions conference with Missionary Manuel Sanchez to Peru. He and his family have been in Peru for around 30 years, and it is always a blessing to have him preach to us. We are praying that our people will have more of a burden for missions!
“To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God ..." (Acts 26:18 KJV).
We are also preparing for our Vacation Bible School which will be August 5-9. The following week we will pack everything up and take our VBS program to Bro. Michael Meyer's new church plant in Guadalajara to run VBS there as well. Please pray for these outreaches!
Thank you so much for your faithfulness to pray for us and support us. Without your faithfulness, we could not do what God has called us to do here in Mexico. May God richly bless you as you continue to serve Him!
In Christ.
