The Mortensons' Sept. Prayer Letter

September 2024

Dear Family and Friends,

Thank you for faithfully praying for our family. God has been so good to us. As we have traveled on furlough this month, we have already driven over 4000 miles and reported in 9 churches. In each church it has been encouraging to see and hear how the Lord is working in their ministries, and it has been a privilege to share how the Lord is at work in Honduras. We live in days where the news is almost always depressing, but we have reason to be encouraged, because God is still at work.

As we finish up this furlough we will be on the road still for a couple of weeks, and we would covet your prayers for the Lord’s protection as we travel. We still have stops in VA, NC, GA, IN and then back to Florida where we fly out on September 19th. We have very much enjoyed this time, but are also already looking forward to being home in Honduras.

As we arrive home Cori and the kids will begin another homeschool year. Mykenzie is a senior, Grant is a sophomore, Blake is a freshman (crazy to think that we have 3 in high school) and Savanna is in 4th grade. In October I will begin teaching the 2nd module of the theology class that we offer at our church on Sunday nights and we will be jumping back into many other ministries on a weekly basis.

While we finish our furlough, the other members of Team Honduras will be hosting another MMO Surgical team for the week of September 9th. Please join us in praying that the Lord would bless that week of ministry and that the patients would recover well and also listen attentively as the gospel is shared. There is one more surgical team scheduled this year and we thank the Lord for the opportunity to partner with MMO and meet such real needs in the lives of each patient.

Thank you again for your partnership in prayer.

PRAYER REQUESTS
  • Praise The Lord for the encouragement of how He is working in ministries across the US.
  • Please pray for continued traveling mercies during furlough as we report back to several supporting churches.
  • Please pray for the surgical team (September 9th-13th) and for the patients to whom they will minister.
  • Thank you for continuing to pray for the Lord’s blessing as we grow in our understanding of Type 1 Diabetes and how to best help Blake manage.

In Christ,
Nate and Cori, with Mykenzie, Grant, Blake and Savanna.
