Holiday News from the Mortensons
December 2024
Dear Family and Friends,
Thank you for faithfully praying for our family and ministry. It is a special time of year as we enter the holiday season, and we hope that each of you had a very happy Thanksgiving with friends and family. Our Thanksgiving was a blessed day and an important reminder of the many, many things that we have to be thankful for on a daily basis. It has been said by someone, that the best way to brighten a day is to focus on all the things you are thankful for. And may I say, “God is good!”
Well, last month in our prayer update, I mentioned Medical Missions Outreach’s last surgical team for the year. The team of surgeons and nurses came down the first week of November and the week was full but blessed. They were able to perform more than 30 outpatient procedures plus a pediatric dental team was able to do over 30 dental cases. All of the patients have already come back in for their follow-ups and are on the road to full strength. We also praise the Lord for the gospel seeds that were planted and for 2 patients who made decisions to trust Christ as their Savior! We are truly thankful for the partnership with Medical Missions Outreach and the wonderful servant-hearted medical providers who use their talents and abilities to open the door for us to have spiritual conversations with the people in our community.
As we jump into the month of December, at church we will be enjoying several special Christmas time activities and celebrating the birth of our King. One of the things that our family personally looks forward to each Christmas is hosting in our home a couple of the young boys from the Children’s Home who don’t have family to visit over the holidays. This year we will have Willy and Isaac staying with us starting on Christmas Eve and staying through the 28th.
We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

PRAYER REQUESTS
- Please continue to pray for our residency process. We are hoping that the pause for paperwork earlier this fall will not hold us back too much and that we will have our new visas early in the new year.
- Praise the Lord for the surgical team and for the two patients who trusted Christ as a result of the week.
- Thank you for continuing to pray for the Lord’s blessing as we grow in our understanding of Type 1 Diabetes and how to best help Blake manage.
