The Mortensons: Beginning October 2026

October 2026

Dear Family and Friends,

Thank you for your faithful prayers and financial support. We hope this email finds you well and walking in His presence. God has been good and we have had steady activities this past month. Since September is the month of Honduras’s Independence Day, there have been many events going on in the downtown of our city of El Progreso as part of the celebrations.

One extra activity we had as a family, was getting to minister with another local church pastored by a national. This church is located not far from us as you are heading over to the bigger city of San Pedro Sula. We enjoyed being part of a combined teen activity for them and another sister church. The activity was fun and wound up being a unique adventure because part way through the songs and games the power went out in the whole region and never came back till much later in the night. But a little power outage didn’t dampen the spirits, and we enjoyed the rest of the evening from the light of cell phones. When I got up to preach, I was preaching to a very dark auditorium and I thought to myself, if teens fall asleep during the preaching they will have a good excuse. :-) I don’t think anyone fell asleep, and we even had a teen share how the message was such a help in strengthening his faith; praise the Lord!

As a ministry we have been gearing up for the next surgical team that arrives on Friday, October 9th. Please be praying for the medical providers as they fly in, that they will not have delays or issues with medical items they are bringing. We have done all the prescreening paperwork required but still need the Lord’s blessing for ease in the process. We look forward to serving the patients that God has opened doors for us to minister to the week of the 12th-15th. We will have two general surgeons, both of which are first time team members. We also have several of the support team who are returning team members so it should be a good week. Our prayer request is that God would enable us, as we minster together, to not only meet the physical needs but also to minister spiritually to each and every patient and family member who comes through our doors. Please pray for God’s blessing on each part of the process and on each team member and church volunteer. We desire to; first, show the love of Christ in action, and then share the gospel clearly to each person.

PRAYER REQUESTS
  • Pray for the next surgical team as they arrive next week, that God would use us as a team to exalt Christ and minister healing to the patients.
