The Mortenson Family's September Letter
September 2025
Dear Family and Friends,
Thank you for your faithful prayers for our family. God is good, and we have had a full month here. In many ways, August was a time to catch our breath after a very full spring and summer. We were able to focus more on family and regular ministry activities. That being said, time still seemed to fly by and here we are entering the fall season.
This Thursday, we will be fly back to Florida for the purpose of helping Mykenzie transition back to the States. She has decided to take a gap year to work and attend our sending church while she seeks the Lord’s will about college. While this is a big transition for her and us it is also something that we have been praying and preparing for, and so has some excitement in it as well. We are thrilled about the opportunities in front of her and at the same time desiring to trust the Lord with our “baby girl” (not so “baby” anymore) as she steps out on her own. We know that with God’s guidance, she is in good hands. Please pray with us that the Lord would not only guide her to a good job, but that he would also give her clarity as she looks to the future.
After we get back from the States, Cori and the kid’s will be pushing full speed on homeschooling and I will be focusing on preparations for the first of 2 fall surgical teams. Please be praying for the Lord to bless all of the preparation and that He would use those weeks to reach people with the Gospel. For the first Surgical team we already have an orthopedic surgeon, as well as a full team of support staff and anesthesiologists, however the second surgeon (for pediatric general surgeries) who was scheduled to serve with us, suddenly passed away several weeks ago. We are greatly saddened and yet rejoice that Dr. Thomas Sims is now with this Savior. Please pray for his wife and children as they walk this road of grief. Pray for comfort and the evident hand of God guiding them through this valley. Please pray also that the Lord would lead us to another surgeon who would be available to serve with us on short notice.
Thank you again for your faithful partnership both prayerfully and financially. We are blessed and encouraged by so many of you who reach out to tell us of your love and prayers. May God continue to richly bless you all.

PRAYER REQUESTS
- Please pray for God’s guidance on Mykenzie as she makes independent steps as an adult. Pray also that we will have wisdom as we experience having her so far away, and yet want to help guide her.
- Pray for the family of Dr. Sims in the wake of his sudden passing. May God’s grace be evident in their lives.
- Pray for God to provide another surgeon for the upcoming surgical team.
- Thank you for continuing to pray for the Lord’s blessing as we grow in our understanding of Type 1 Diabetes.
