The Mortenson Family

June 2025

Dear Family and Friends,

Thank you for your faithful prayers for our family. May was such a full month, full of monumental high days and difficult low days. Yet God is good in the highs and lows of life. He is unchanging and always the same in the midst of constantly changing circumstances. For that reason we praise Him just like David in Psalm 34 where he says, “I will bless the Lord at all times.”

When we think of the high moments: We are so proud of Mykenzie as she graduated from high school and transitioned to her next step, interning as an assistant at Hope Children’s home; we celebrated God’s blessing of 7 years ministering here in Honduras; we had visiting groups from the States who encouraged us; Cori and I celebrated 19 years of marriage; and our family moved to a new rental house less than five minutes from our church. Boy, God has been good! But in the midst of the great days we are also experiencing valleys as a church family: Brothers in Christ are struggling with life threatening health issues; multiple families in our church have lost loved ones including the 22 year old son of one of our newly ordained men, who was killed in a motorcycle accident. Knowing that God is greater and that He is in control, knowing that He “will never leave us nor forsake us” and that “nothing can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord,” is what provides the strength and security as we continue by His grace.

Please be praying for God’s grace and presence to be evident for those in our church family who are mourning. Please pray that even in the valleys we can keep are eyes firmly fixed on Christ, and that we can be used of the Lord to support the weak and hurting. Pray for God to continue to guide and open doors for ministry even as a result of the hard parts of life. I know that the tone of this update on our family is a little different than normal, but thank you for sharing in our ministry through your faithful prayers, encouragement and support. May God be glorified at all times.

PRAYER REQUESTS
  • Praise the Lord with us that Mykenzie graduated high school and started the internship at Hope Children’s Home.
  • Pray for the Ruiz family who tragically lost their 22 year old son.
  • Thank you for continuing to pray for the Lord’s blessing as we grow in our understanding of Type 1 Diabetes.
  • Also pray for our national pastor friend’s son (Abner 12 y/o) who was just diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and has been hospitalized with complications.

Love in Christ,
Nate and Cori with Mykenzie, Grant, Blake and Savanna.
