The Valbuena Family: September 2025
September 2025
Dear Friends, Family, and Ministry Partners,
We greet you in the grace and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ. We write to you today with an important and urgent update regarding our Subic Bay Children’s Home ministry. Recently, we received a cease and desist order that directly affects our ability to carry out some aspects of the work we've been faithfully doing in the Philippines.
While we are seeking legal and spiritual counsel on how to respond wisely and with integrity, we want to assure you: our faith remains unshaken.
We believe that God is not surprised by this development. The Gospel has always faced opposition, and the history of missions is filled with moments like these moments that test our resolve and deepen our dependence on Christ.
“We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;” (2 Cor 4:8-9)
We are taking this situation seriously, and with the help of the brethren and legal team, we are exploring every avenue to continue the mission in a way that honors both God and the laws of the land.
How You Can Pray:
We deeply need your prayers in this time. Would you join us in bringing these requests before the Lord?
1. Wisdom and Discernment – As we navigate how to respond in a Christ-honoring and lawful way.
2. Fairness, Favor with Authorities – That we would find understanding and open doors with those in positions of power.
3, Protection for Our Team – Spiritually, emotionally, and physically.
4. Boldness and Peace – To continue ministering with courage, even in the face of pressure.
5. Opportunities to Shine Light – That this challenge would open unexpected doors for the Gospel.
6, Funds for the legal Fees – This is an unexpected expense and not something that we have a set budget for.
7. Our family – That Sam (12th grade) and Elizabeth (7th grade) be able to accomplish their required school work; for the Lord’s provision while we are here in the US. We are currently in Greenville, SC working on scheduling meetings to personally update and share the ministries God has entrusted.
Despite the setback, we are not discouraged. The Lord is our Shepherd, and His mission never stops. All of our other ministries are continuously going on and have not been disrupted. We will keep you updated as things develop with the SBCH ministry. In the meantime, we covet your continued intercession.
Thank you for standing with us in prayer, in faith, and in love. Your support strengthens us daily.
With hope in Christ,
Bro. Rodrigo “odek”, Annalisa Valbuena & Family
