The Valbuena Update

November 2023

Greetings from the Valbuena Family.

It’s the month of Thanksgiving and the time we are reminded of all we are thankful for. For the Valbuenas it is not hard to put together our Thanksgiving list. Among those at the top of the list are our faithful supporters. We praise and thank God for the ministry in which he placed us and for YOU for holding the rope for us! We cannot thank you all enough for your faithfulness in prayer and support and loving on our family! Any disappointment or hardship here in the ministry becomes insignificant at the thought of our supporters who so graciously pray and support us! Thank you all so very much! May you have a wonderful time this Thanksgiving with your family and friends!

A report on Rodrigo’s (Odek) health.

He is undergoing 4 months of medication and then he will be tested again with the hopes that his PSA levels have dropped significantly. Prior to his MRI, the doctor talked about doing a biopsy but the results were not alarming enough and we are hoping that the medicine will do wonders. We know that God is working and answering our prayers!

We are blessed to have several young men and women studying in our Bible Institute. They are being used in our local and mission churches as Sunday school teachers, Bible club teachers, song leaders, etc. Our son, Samuel, is also taking first-year subjects in our Bible Institute and accompanying me to home bible studies and bible studies with the inmates and police officers.

This past month we held our annual youth camp and the Lord was truly in the midst. Bro. Noel Garces from San Antonio, TX spent two weeks here and preached during the camp. He was such a blessing! We praise and thank God for His provision for the food and all the expense that goes into our annual youth camp.

We are so happy to report on the church building projects of our mission churches. The Lord has allowed us to see through the completion of two mission churches! They are Higher Ground Baptist Mission church and San Perdo Saug Baptist Mission. Higher Ground is in the mountains among the indigenous and the second is located in Pampanga surrounded by rice and vegetable farms. Both churches are growing in quality and quantity and they are so very grateful to have a building where they can worship, protected from the heat and rain.

We ask that you remember Subic Bay Children’s Home. The DSWD (Department of Social Welfare) is mandating us to hire more social workers. There is a shortage of social workers in the Philippines and those that have applied are not Christians. Pray that the Lord will send us the right social worker.

We ask that you pray that the Lord will send us godly teachers. Pray that the Lord will even see fit to send us a missionary teacher from the US willing to work with us.

In closing, and as always, we thank you so very much for your faithfulness, for your love, prayers, and support! May God bless you and your family!
