The Mortensons’ November Letter

November 2023

Dear Family and Friends,

Thank you for your faithfulness in lifting our family up in prayer. God is good and we always want to thank Him and praise Him for His goodness. One of the areas of His goodness is the partnership that we have with you all in the great commission. Recently I have been thinking about the great commission and a thought that has come back to my mind several times is that it is such a privilege to be a part of God’s plan through proclaiming the gospel. We live in a world that is in a constant state of chaos (made even more acute by what comes out in the news geopolitically), and yet God has a rescue plan and has invited us all to be a part of that plan. What a privilege!

Well, it certainly has been a busy month. Thank you for praying for our surgical week, the first week of October. The surgical team was able to perform 19 surgeries and each patient and family member received a gospel witness. I know that I say this each time a surgical team comes, but meeting these physical needs is such a blessing even to our hearts as volunteers. But the patients all express their great gratitude. We saw all of them again just last week for follow up appointments. I was able to translate for the surgeons who called in to talk with the MMO nurse and the patients.  Many of the patients praised God and thanked us for our part in their healing.

We are rapidly getting ready for the last surgical team that will arrive on Friday. The plan is for them to do surgeries Nov. 6th-9th. This team will have both an orthopedic surgeon and a general surgeon along with the team of nurses and volunteers. Please be praying for the team as they travel down and for us as we finish preparations. But most importantly please join us in praying for the hearts of the patients to respond to the gospel as we minister to them.

Please also continue praying for Pastor Daniel and the new church plant. We are super excited for their launch day on Sunday, Nov. 12th. The official start of the church on that Sunday will only be the beginning, but Pastor Daniel is excited as details are coming together and we get closer to that date. Please join us in praying for a large evangelism canvasing that we, as a church family, will help him with. We will be knocking doors on the Saturday (Nov. 11th) before the first service and we hope to have a good response.

Prayer & Praise:

  • Please pray for the preparation and launch of the new church plant, and for Pastor Daniel and his family as they begin on November 12th.
  • Pray for God’s blessing on the MMO surgical team. Pray that each patient will receive the care needed and that they will each be open to the gospel as it is presented.
  • Thank you for your continued prayers for wisdom as we grow in our understanding of Type 1 diabetes, and how to best help Blake. This past month has been challenging for sure, but we know that God is with us

Thank you again for your partnership with us.

In Christ,
Nate and Cori, with Mykenzie, Grant, Blake and Savanna
