The Mortensons’ Letter for October

October 2020

Dear Family and Friends,

Thank you so much for your faithful prayers for our family.  We are very blessed even when plans have to be changed.  Many of you may have seen via Facebook that we were unable to return to Honduras on September 26th.  The borders in Honduras officially opened back at the end of August, and one of the new requirements for entering the country is to have a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours prior to entry.  In order to comply with this requirement, we were all tested and Cori’s test came back positive.  Thankfully she is a-symptomatic and has not experienced any sickness, but we had to make some adjustments.  Our travel agent was able to cancel our flights and we will be able to rebook them once we are able to travel.

Cori will be getting a follow-up test this morning (Oct. 1) to see if she continues to test positive.  We should get the results of the test by Monday.  If she is negative then we will be able to rebook flights and then reschedule Covid tests for everyone.  Our prayer is that we will be able to return to Honduras on October 8th or 9th.  Please be praying for good health for the whole family and that our test results come back negative for everyone.  We are currently in Northern Kentucky with my parents so the extra time with family has been an unexpected blessing of all of this.

We had a wonderful furlough visiting back to several supporting churches, and a couple of new ones.  The time together with these church families has been very encouraging and refreshing.  We thank the Lord for the partnerships that we have in the Gospel and for the opportunity to continue together for His glory.  One of the blessings of this furlough has been seeing and being reminded that there are many churches and Christians that are seeking the Lord for America.  The time in our country is dark, but God is greater, and through the light of His word and through His power, revival of the church and an awakening of hearts is possible.

One last update on Honduras, the government is continuing the slow opening of the country.  One of the newer aspects has been the reactivation of public transportation.  Up till now, no taxi or bus has been allowed to circulate, therefore we have not been able to run our church buses (a major reason we have been only doing the on-line services).  With this new sector open the plan is to begin having in-person services again in October!  Praise the Lord!

Thank you again for your faithful prayers.

  • For the Lord to help us continue to grow in our Spanish speaking abilities, and be able to better minister for the Lord.
  • For the Lord to give wisdom and open the doors for us to have in-person services once again.
  • For continued spiritual growth in our church family.
  • For continued tenderness to the Gospel, and that people would turn to Christ.
  • For God’s continued mercies toward America, and Revival.

In Christ,
Nate and Cori with Mykenzie, Grant, Blake and Savanna
