The Mortensons’ January Letter

January 2022

Dear Family and Friends,

Happy New Year! Our desire is that you all will experience a year filled with God’s presence and His blessing. A new year is a wonderful time to begin anew, pressing on always toward the mark of the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus (Phil. 3:14). It is also a great time to look back and remind ourselves of the goodness of God, His faithfulness and His hand in our lives. God has been so good to us and we want to praise Him for some of the ways that we have seen Him working in our lives.

This past year we have seen God at work in our church. We have seen spiritual growth in new souls saved and others built-up and growing in their faith. We have seen God’s heart for people manifest in the hearts of the church family as we have been involved in several social and evangelistic outreaches. It has also been exciting to have several of our kids from Bible club outreach attend church. Both Cori and I are personally continuing to develop in our Spanish speaking abilities. We are reaching a level of fluidity where we can converse and our errors are not a distraction like they were in the beginning. This year both of us have had opportunities to share, in Spanish, a one-on-one presentation of the Gospel and both of us have been privileged to lead a precious soul to the Lord! Praise the Lord! In 2021 also, we watched God bless in the purchase of property for the church plant in Santa Barbara (about 2 hours away). It is exciting to be a part of helping this church continue to grow. They have been able to start construction and are very soon going to be able to meet at the new location as they continue building. They have far and away outgrown the carport area at Pastor Alex’s house.

As we look forward into 2022 we are excited about the opportunities to serve the Lord. We will be continuing many ministry activities, but one new adventure is that I will begin teaching a theology class on Sunday nights for members of our church. Please pray that God will use me as I teach and that the students will grow.

Prayer & Praise

  • Spiritual Growth in the church family.
  • Souls that have been saved this year!
  • Fruit from outreach
  • Advancement in the fluidity of our Spanish speaking

Because He came and until He comes again,
Nate and Cori, with Mykenzie, Grant, Blake and Savanna
