Dear Family and Friends,
Summer is here. And we are already thankful for what the Lord is doing. We had a great week serving alongside Inside the Lines (a US ministry led by Jonathan Washer) to put on an evangelistic basketball clinic. Each night of the clinic we had good crowds of teenagers for both the boy’s and girl’s times. Even though basketball is not popular here, Hondurans do not lack for natural athleticism, and the games were fun to watch. Soccer is the main sport here and I think the different sport did produce a little bit of a draw, even if it was just curiosity. Over the 5 nights, we had 22 visiting teenagers who had not come to church before. Each night the preaching was gospel centered and though no decisions to follow Christ were made, there was good feedback from a couple of our teens that the preaching helped them.
In our last prayer update I mentioned the upcoming Medical Missions Outreach clinic. We will be hosting this clinic of US medical providers and volunteers the first full week of July. The clinic will be held in a local school and provide 4 days of general medical, optical and outpatient surgical procedures. Because of Covid, last year we were not able to host this outreach; even this year we are having to account for some new considerations. But we are looking forward to being able to meet just a fraction of the physical needs that are present down here. Most importantly though, we hope to share a one on one presentation of the gospel with more than 3000 people over the course of the week. We covet your prayers for the logistical aspects of this clinic. But we also ask that you pray specifically for those that will hear the gospel. They need to know that their spiritual need is of much more importance than their physical need. We desire to lift up the name of the Jesus and that He would be glorified in everything.
Summer is a busy time of ministry here at Team Honduras because of the visiting groups that help us with big outreach opportunities like the clinic. That being said, before the month of July is over we will also host a youth group from Georgia who will help us put on a youth conference. We desire that God would use His word to impact and build up the next generation of Honduran Christians. The theme this year is N.A.S.A. related and the focus is not allowing anything to invade our time with the Lord. Please be praying for good attendance and for God’s Spirit to work in hearts.
As we close out this update, I just want to say thank you for your faithful partnership in prayer. Through prayer you play a big part in the ministry here.
- For the Lord to help us continue to grow in our Spanish speaking abilities, and to be better able to minister for Him.
- For continued spiritual growth in our church family.
- For the Upcoming Medical Missions Outreach clinic. Our ultimate goal is gospel seeds planted and souls saved along with the opportunity to serve the physical needs that are constantly present in our community.
- For God’s power and blessing on the Youth conference.
