Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love Him.
We are blessed to know that whatever came at us we were victorious only through the power of God. Temptations, trials and testings are all parts of our spiritual growth and often how we respond will decide whether we can move on to something else or get to do a repeat. Like Paul in my flesh dwells no good thing so walking in the Spirit is the only way to experience the blessed part.
We have had our share of temptations in 2021 like most who will read this update. Everything has been different and difficult to say the least. But like the verse says we are blessed. We saw victories only possible through God’s provision and protection. In the pandemic and times of lockdowns and restrictions we saw 7 people saved, one of them our own son, Jon. We also saw 8 men trained and certified as instructors for Training Center of Costa Rica. No matter what else did or did not happen as we would have wanted, these things did. Real fruits for our labor and we thank you for your partnership and God for His goodness and mercy and constant help in our never ending time of need.
We said goodbye to those we ministered to and with on December 14th and left Costa Rica for the United States. It was very emotional times for us all and bittersweet. We spent 1 week in Indiana visiting family, some who we had not seen in a couple of years. On December 21st we traveled to Florida where the rest of our family and sending church is. Two countries and six states in thirteen days was a whirlwind. We had a good Christmas celebration with parents, kids and grandkids. Things were weird for us. Being gone everyone else fills the gap and we kinda feel like fish out of water. Jon was saved in June and had asked if we could baptize him at our sending church so we waited and I got to baptize my brother in Christ and youngest son on December 29th. What a joy to now see all of our kids and grandkids saved. We updated our sending church and got to take part in a prayer breakfast at another partner church.
We plan to be in the Pensacola, Florida area while we look for permanent housing in the Ocala Florida area where God is directing us to make our base for ministry soon. Our household belongings and one car are already in route and should be there in a few weeks. We have meetings and more training and a couple of short term trips in the Caribbean Islands already in the works. We will continue to serve God full time and in the area of practical/vocational training and several other new areas also. We will become a part of Caribbean Partnership Missions and have the liberty to maintain our current ministry. God has opened more doors and opportunities to continue working in Costa Rica and several other places as we build those relationships there. To Him be all glory and praise. Our hearts desire has only grown stronger in reaching people with the gospel and then teaching/training them. Please continue to pray for us as we move forward and we thank you for your partnership in what we believe are these last days.
