Dear Friends, Prayer Warriors, Loved Ones, and Supporting Churches:
He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed;
For he giveth of his bread to the poor.
Our Easter service was a huge success this year. We normally have a special party for the children on Saturday. This year we held it Sunday so that the parents could attend the church service. We had a total of forty-one attending; several were first-time visitors. We had games outside for the children and a craft of the resurrection inside. We then held our Sunday morning service.
For Easter, one of our ladies, Mrs. B brought her unsaved friend Ms. J. After the service Mrs. B asked her friend if she understood the reason for the resurrection and if she wanted to be saved. They went upstairs away from the large crowd, and she was able to lead her friend in the sinner’s prayer. Praise God! Please be in prayer for Ms J’s spiritual growth.
Mother’s Day is always a special occasion. This is true even in Japan. We had one mother and her three children return from the Easter Service to attend. That was an unexpected blessing. The men stepped up to the plate and cooked the weekly Sunday meal. From what we could determine, the salad, meal, and pie were a huge hit. One of the men made the comment while cleaning up, “Maybe we should not have made it so good! They will ask us to do this more often.” Most likely, the ladies were being careful not to bruise our egos.
I have started teaching a series, “Wine and the Bible.” Drinking alcohol is quite socially accepted in Japan. Pray that I will be able to teach with a sensitive heart. Pray that they will use the lessons to make wise choices in their own lives.
Again, thank you for your continued prayers!
In your service for HIS Service,
Steve and Kimiyo
