“One man could . . . affect a whole nation . . . by multiplying himself and spreading his views by writing them upon fleshly tablets of the hearts of young and earnest men” (John Calvin). This echoes Apostle Paul’s statement, in 2 Timothy 2:2, that “the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.” It is our prayer that the Lord might use us to do this as He leads the way, provides the means, strengthens the inner being with His sufficient grace.
We did arrive in Nairobi, Kenya, on 5th July 2019. We started our challenges with e-Passport renewal requirements which took us over a week in Nairobi to process but only to receive them in bits over the last three months. The e-passport became mandatory for traveling abroad as the Kenyan government tries to clean up the immigration requirements and procedures. Nevertheless, we praise the Lord for having received them despite the tedious process. We thank God that Ian and Regina were able to visit for three (3) weeks and encourage the youth ministry and the church here in Kenya. The church continues to grow besides challenges due to our time away. We thank God for Silvanus, Mike, and Simeon doing their very best to care for the church of God. Thus, we continue to assist them to grow in ministry and work on church plants as the Lord directs. Prayers are needed.
In the August 2019, the limelight was the Vacation Bible School. We ventured to assist the church to hasten the preparation and run a whole week of ministry with children. It was of great blessing to the church, the children and the community. We so and increase of children from 60s to over 100 during the week. Praise the Lord for salvations and great number of parents who attended both the program and the closing session whereby I gave the gospel. We were also able to visit two possible places for church planting work: Ngarua and Kesses. Your prayers are generously needed. Several visits to Nairobi for e-passports follow-up part of the challenges along with the new banking regulations for a lump some money withdrawals. The new regulations demand documentations for the source, purpose and reasons as long as you receive or withdraw over $ 10, 000 (Ksh. 1,000,000). We sincerely need wisdom in the use of every cent offered for ministry support though slowed down by such requirements. Pray for us as we progressively work on the church building though slowed also by lack of entrance to the Church facility from the newly tarmacked road. Both the city planner and the road engineer have visited to verify the need. The unceasing prayers are needed as ever.
Family challenges are also added to our responsibilities. Both Edna’s dad and my parents were sick, and we had to care for them after hospital treatments in the month of September 2019. Not only are they struggling with arthritis but also eyesight, high blood pressure, swollen feet, etc. Please pray for them as well as we to do our best care at such a time in their lives. Pray for Ian and Regina as they study at Iowa States University. God’s care and godly friends and believers be positively influential. Distance could cause a lot of fears and struggle due to ungodly friends. We believe that the Lord will direct their path. Rena is doing well with us at the moment here and trying to catch up with the rest of her former friends at school and church. We have had several funerals in the month of September 2019 and also visited Ogembo, Kisii region to see some unfortunate pastor and group trying to deceive one of our churches for financial gains. Pray for God’s ministry in Kenya since there are deceitful people in the name of ministry.
Please pray for our Radio Program “The Bible in Your Hand” at 7.30 pm on Fridays. We have a baptismal service for 5 adults and additional memberships on 27th October 2019. Pray for growth and maturity of the church and the church leadership with church planting opportunities. Pastors and teachers, please help with downloadable materials for ministry training. Pray for Stephen having classes with so much in ministry work and responsibilities. Pray also for 2020 summer ministries. We thank God for His sustaining power.

Pray for God’s care in our monthly support. Recently a church communicated their stop to support missionaries due to financial struggle and with possibility of closing. We will have less support of $100 from our monthly support. All in all, we trust God for His care and provision in His work. Pray for how you provide any support for literature, Bibles, radio program, Bible College training, and other ministry support, please send your gift through Baptist Mid-Missions office. Thank you so much for your faithfulness and love for God and His work. “Desire all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth.”
In His Care,
Stephen & Edna Muindi
