Mortenson’s June Prayer Letter

June 1, 2022

Dear Family and Friends,
Thank you for your faithful prayers and support for our family.  It truly is a privilege to serve the Lord together.  Over the past few weeks, I have been meditating on how great our God is.  Honestly, He is beyond true comprehension, but in His greatness He still thinks and cares about each one of us.  That thought has been something that has given me encouragement and strength; I hope that it does for you as well.
Well, we had a great trip in the States but are thankful to be back home in Honduras.  May was a full ministry month.  For example, we were able to help our ministry partners with Hope Children’s Home by providing coverage watching all the kids for 3 days while the regular staff had a training/refreshment retreat.  Cori and I both love working with the kids and even our kids were sad to see the time end (probably partly because it meant getting back to their homeschool).
Also we just finished out the month by hosting a pastors conference for local pastors, and pastoral students.  Pastor Cary Schmidt and Missionary Josué Ortiz came in and gave excellent instruction on expository preaching.  It was a true blessing to the 25 or so pastors who came.
Looking forward into June, we have an evangelistic basketball clinic that we will be hosting for teenagers as well as our annual big medical clinic with Medical Missions Outreach.  We are in the planning/organizing stage, which includes getting all of the correct government approvals.  We are expecting God to do great things as we hope to meet both physical and spiritual needs.  Even before the pandemic caused additional burdens, Honduras has many people who deal with medical needs that they don’t have the resources with which to get help.  With this clinic we are able to meet some of those needs for free and at the same time share the gospel with each person.  Truly the Great Physician is the answer for both the physical and spiritual need here.  Please be praying for these outreach opportunities, that God would prepare tender hearts.
Thank you again for your faithful prayers for us.  May the Lord continue to bless you all as you also serve Him.

  • Continued spiritual growth in the church family.
  • For wisdom as we grow in our understanding of Type 1 diabetes, and how to best help Blake.
  • For the upcoming evangelistic basketball outreach for teenagers.
  • For all aspects of the MMO clinic, but specifically for the gospel presentations to the patients.

From Honduras,
Nate and Cori, with Mykenzie, Grant, Blake and Savanna
