Colossians 3:23-24

And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

We should work heartily – with all our hearts, entirely, 100%. How many times do we give men our all for the paycheck or for a pat on the back? We should do a good job and have a good testimony, but not give God only halfhearted efforts. Give God His due, our all, our best.

We have seen eight people saved in the last couple of months in the church we serve in – Iglesias Bautista Victoria de Atenas. God is working here and we thank Him for the increase in his harvest and the small part we get to play. On March 23rd our baby boy, Jon, called on the Lord for salvation. All souls are equal we understand, but what a blessing for our family. Reaching people with the gospel means in our home, too. Glory to God!

We had to leave Costa Rica on March 2nd due to our tourist visas expiring. Land borders were still closed so the only way to leave was by air, a quick eight day trip to Florida and back. While in Florida we were in four of our supporting churches giving updates. We also had some fellowship with three families that partner with us. We saw most of our family and went to the zoo with our grandkids. Kevin took a needed Red Cross refresher class. Bethany and Jon both enjoyed seeing their friends and family but both said they were ready to go home. In Florida there’s no exotic birds and iguanas in your yard, and no mountains and no Costa Ricans and not much Spanish. Our residency paperwork is in process

and our attorney says we won’t have to leave anymore by air. The land borders open April 5th so we can now drive across to Nicaragua or Panama, get our passports stamped and come back for another 90 days. All a part of it, HAHA.

We’ve had several ministry opportunities that were real treats for us. We visited the Lighthouse Children’s Home in Tres Rios, about an hour and a half away. Terry and Sally Sanders along with Patricia Neff, have been here many years taking in children, training them up in the Lord, and sending them out as profitable servants. We got to play with the children, cook for them and then give them a devotion after supper. At our house the power has gone out a lot the last few weeks. Bamboo has been falling on the power line in strong winds. Kevin saw an elderly neighbor cutting it down with a machete – this older guy with one withered hand and a forest of 60 ft. tall bamboo. We made a new friend and had another witness opportunity.

This month we purchased the HBI curriculum for the training center and got the instructor certifications to teach all 14 of the subjects. Adding to that, Kevin is currently working on the remaining Red Cross instructor certifications and obtaining permission from another group to add a military combat equivalent emergency lifesaving procedure as well. We believe these additions will be invaluable to those going into the rural areas where you may be the only one with medical training there.

We have come to a crossroad here already. The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord and so are the stops and the detours. Some doors have not opened as we had planned. With much prayer and seeking wise counsel we believe God is leading us to move the training center to another larger town about 12 miles and 50 minutes away. God has recently opened some doors there for us that would greatly benefit this generation of church planters/missionaries with the training we can provide. We are already looking for a house to rent and plan to move as soon as possible. This is not an easy situation for us, as we have just gotten settled, and we need all the prayers and support we can get. We will continue to move forward and do what we came here to do and it looks like even more, but just in another town.

Thank you all for the prayers, encouragement, e-mails and messages, and for your commitment and faithfulness to us.

In Christ,
Kevin & Sonya McCoy, Bethany & Jon
