And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.
No matter our titles or specific gifts and abilities, if we are children of God, we can participate in the work of the ministry and do what we can to edify, or build up the body of Christ – the church. We can help or give assistance. We can encourage and put wind in the sails of others. We can pray and give and go, and we ought to do all we can.
November was crazy busy. We continued to work on the remodel of the new church lease and finished at least the auditorium part and had our first service on Sunday the 6th. Everything was good with the exception of only having one bathroom for everyone. We got our building permit on the 7th for adding a bathroom and worked hard to complete it for the following Sunday. On the 14th and 15th we got our last inspections and were able to get our certificate of occupancy and close out that remodel project. Hopefully this space will work for the church until we can get the new building completed. We got to help one of our missionaries for a couple days work on a project at his house, too.
We had the opportunity to participate in a ladies shooting range day and also taught a basic self-defense class. Training and teaching in the churches is one of our passions and a privilege to help others put tools in their toolboxes.
We traveled to Indiana to be with Sonya’s parents and siblings for Thanksgiving. It was nice to take off a couple days and just do a bunch of nothing and catch up with some of our family. On the 28th we traveled back to Buckhorn Kentucky to help Rock Bottom Baptist church with ongoing disaster relief efforts. The prophet’s chamber – the Ark as we call it – has been moved to its original location and will be set on a new foundation in the next week or so. The barn church had been cleaned out and needed all new support posts and a lot of structural framing installed prior to winter and the snow. We were able to get a bunch of that done in a few days and now the building is ready for some new metal siding and rolling doors.
To God be the glory for the great things he continues to do and the little part we get to play in that. Thanks to each of you for your prayers and the contacts through calls, texts and emails and your financial giving. All of these are very much appreciated, and we could not do what we do in the Lord’s army without it.
