Hebrews 6:10
For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
Often our availability is more important than our ability. Folks with all the talent in the world can be so busy they are of no use. As servants, God sees what we do and the attitude in which we do it. Out of love for Him or out of duty because that is what is expected. Loving what we do in serving others is not work at all but a privilege and our reasonable service. Let God get the glory and the saints be edified.
After 51 weeks of being back in Florida we did find a semi- permanent house. We signed a one-year lease on a rental property and for the first time in almost 5 years we have all of our belongings on the same property. We started packing our temporary house and emptying our two small storage units. With the help of 15 men from the church we got it all unloaded in just a few hours. It was a lot like Christmas again opening boxes and seeing things that have been packed away and in another town. It’s nice to have a little more room and no one sharing the dining table for home school and office work and meals in between.
Sonya and I enjoyed a couples Valentine dinner with the church. It was our anniversary too so was a treat to leave the kids and hang out with some other couples. The men had to do everything-meals, set up, etc.
Our church continues to grow and had already reached capacity in the new lease building. We spent a few days removing some walls and making it so thirty or so more chairs can be added. We still continue to work with the local building department to get the permit to begin construction of the new building but there is always one more piece of paper again and again. We pray it’s soon. We don’t have any more walls to remove where we are.
We traveled to Austin, Texas to be part of mission’s emphasis month at Scenic Hills Baptist Church with Pastor Matthew Cox. Pastor Cox was an intern at our sending church almost 20 years ago and we were thrilled to get the invite to be part of their program. We gave an update and Kevin preached the Sunday evening service. The church took very good care of us with lodging and meals and even a date night. WooHoo! While there we did get to help them with some projects around the church – scraping the popcorn ceilings in the auditorium, replacing some flooring, and the kids helped put mulch in the playground.
Kevin and the kids went to a big car show in Jacksonville and got to witness to several and pass out a bunch of tracts. Car enthusiasts are another unreached people group right under our noses and in our back yards – just one more way to GO.
Our family also got to help out in the retirement home ministry this month. Kevin and Bethany sang a special and Kevin got to share his testimony with the residents. What a joy to be the church to these that have, for the most part, been left alone.
Now back in Florida, hopefully we can get unpacked and put things in place for a while. We are encouraged and have some more wind in our sails to keep moving forward for the gospel’s sake.
Thank you each and every one for your part in our missionary journey.
In Christ,
Kevin, Sonya, Bethany, and Jon McCoy
