Serving the Lord is certainly not a boring ordeal. God is doing many wonderful things in Thailand.
Bible Institute. We have been able to expand the Bible institute recently to include two missionary instructors (including myself) and two Thai pastors. We are able to do this because of the suggestion and encouragement of Ed Habal. He and his family came on a missions trip several years ago and he saw the potential for bridging the gap between our geographically separated churches. It took several years to implement his ideas but it is becoming a reality. Not only do we have an expanded instructor base but there are several students who have joined form a church in Khorat as well.
New Life Baptist Church. Several of our church members joined us on a second missions trip to Phitsunalok province to help a church plant in that city. We spent three days and helped the missionary pass out more than 10,000 John/Romans introducing his new church plant. It is great to see Thai people who once lived apart from the grace of God have a burden to share the Gospel with their fellow countrymen. We also had our first faith promise missions conference in September. Truthfully, I wasn’t expecting much since our church is mostly composed of working class people who don’t make much. Imagine my shock when our faith promise commitment amounted to about $260 a month. This is half again our churches monthly budget! Praise the Lord. In September, during the missions conference a lady (an adult daughter of a member) came and was saved! Three weeks later one of our newer members starting bringing his neighbor to church and he was saved as well. God is working in Hang Dong!
University Ministry. The first term is finished. It has been a long semester with many students and many opportunities to share the gospel and encourage Christian students. I would appreciate your continued prayers for this ministry.
New Team Member. Atalie Habal finally arrived in Thailand on September 7th after many delays. She ahs started language school and has pretty much gotten all settled in. She will start teaching at a local elementary school in November with the start of the new school term. We are excited about having this energetic young lady as part of our church planting team.
